Nov 20, 2011

Australian Aboriginal photographic artist A/Professor Wayne Quilliam will open his latest exhibition at the Encuentro Mundial de Arte Corporal (World Body Art Festival) in Caracas, Venezuela.  The internationally lauded event organized by the Ministerio del Poder Popular para la Cultura features artwork from across the globe at six locations including the Teatro Teresa Carreño, Museo de Ciencias, Museo de Bellas Artes, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo and Universidad Nacional Experimental de las Artes.

“Being invited to participate in such a unique and creative festival is a great honour.  To have my work featured alongside some of the world’s best artists in this field is a testament to how significant Australian Aboriginal art and culture is valued on the international stage.  After experiencing my work at the United Nations in New York, the curators worked with me to develop a series of work that represents Aboriginal Australia through my eyes”.

Quilliam the only Australian artist features alongside Sonia Biachi(Italia), Adriana Bertini(Brasil), Diana Gamboa (Colombia),  María Elena Roque(Venezuela), Astrid Hadad(México) and Mokomae(Chile).
