Adjunct Professor Wayne Quilliam is recognised as one of Australia’s most prominent Indigenous photographers working at an international level.
His work has been published in more than 1000 publications and he has curated and exhibited over 100 solo shows in Europe, Asia, USA, South America and Australia.Wayne took iconic photos during the Australian Government’s Apology to the Stolen Generations and has worked on many events of national significance. He was acknowledged as the NAIDOC Artist of the Year in 2009.
Locally Wayne travels the country conducting talks and photographic workshops in rural, remote and urban communities encouraging people to utilise photography as an art form and is in demand to present talks and lectures to mainstream art and professional forums relating to contemporary Indigenous art.
The National Centre of Indigenous Excellence looks forward to working with Wayne in 2012 to provide creative input into the development of some of our arts and culture programs.
